Georgette Beatty
Editor, Proofreader
Georgette Beatty has twenty years of professional experience in editing print and digital content, and she’s committed to helping authors produce the best work possible for their audiences. She was a newspaper editor in high school and college, but books (especially children’s, middle grade, and young adult fiction) are her first loves. She has spent most of her career working on reference books that cover a wide variety of topics—from adrenal fatigue to wind power, from biostatistics to wedding etiquette, and so much more.
Georgette has a bachelor’s degree in communication from Purdue University, with minors in English and psychology, and she was a summer intern at Purdue University Press. She started her professional editing career at Scholastic Reading Counts!, a technology-based reading motivation, management, and assessment system used in schools. She then spent nearly eleven years as a project editor at John Wiley & Sons, Inc., working on titles in the For Dummies line.
She currently provides content editing, copyediting, and proofreading services for print and digital products on a freelance basis. Books she has worked on in the religion category include The Historical Jesus For Dummies (John Wiley & Sons), The Last Missionary (Dog Ear Publishing), The Star in the Stands (Lucid Books), and Daniel and the Donkey Factor (Lucid Books).
Georgette lives outside Indianapolis with her husband and daughter. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, baking, running, practicing yoga, and traveling. Feel free to connect with her on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/georgettebeatty.
